San Diego

San Diego is a popular vacation spot located in Southern California. It is just a couple hour drive south of Los Angeles and is the closest major city to the Mexican border in California. San Diego is well known for year round beautiful weather as well as its pristine beaches. The downtown area also has an active nightlife as well as art culture. There is a little something for everyone in San Diego. Below are five destinations you will want to make sure you see while visiting San Diego.

San Diego Zoo
The San Diego Zoo has two locations. One is a more traditional zoo with an impressive array of exotic animals. A short drive north from San Diego is the San Diego Zoo Safari Park which is a large recreation of the animal’s habitat. Here you can observe animals living together like they would in the wild.

Seaworld
Seaworld is another great place to visit while in San Diego. There are roller coaster rides as well as educational exhibits and shows. Seaworld has also partnered with some of the local universities and is an active participant in the San Diego community.

Balboa Park
Balboa Park is located on the east side of the city and has many museums as well as gardens. Some of the museums are free depending on the day you go and the streets usually have a fair amount of performers for your entertainment.

Old Town
Old Town San Diego is the location where the town was first founded. Many of the original buildings have been restored and preserved. There are some good authentic Mexican restaurants in Old Town as well.

USS Midway
The USS Midway museum is a retired aircraft carrier which is now open to the public. There are guided tours which explain the workings of aircraft carriers as well as detail the history of this specific ship.
